Want to shed to pounds for your wedding?

When it comes to losing weight, there is nothing like a deadline to make you focus and there is nothing like a wedding date as a deadline!

However, now is not the time to start a cabbage soup diet or indeed any other fad diet. Such a diet may mean you losing the weight, but it can be to the detriment of your health, skin, hair, nails etc and you want to look your best on your big day.

Be realistic

Work out how much time you have and bearing in mind that the experts only suggest you should be losing on average 1-2 lbs per week, work out what you could lose over the time you have left. Ideally you need to start thinking about your weight loss plan (if it is necessary!), as soon as you set your wedding date. Don't fall foul of the 'oh, I will deal with that later' scenario. The best way to lose weight is slowly and steadily, that way it is more likely to stay off.

Change habits

If you know that your eating habits are not what they should be, it may be a question of eating less crisps and chocolate and avoiding sugary drinks and alcohol. (I said avoid - not abstain!) If it is more serious than that, you need to get some professional advice on how to improve your diet.

There are a number of ways to obtain such advice. For example, if you are heavily over weight, your first port of call should be your Doctor who should be able to refer you to a nutritionist.

Otherwise you could try to find a nutritionist local to you, perhaps via your local gym, or you could sign up with a program such as e-Diets. Failing that there are tons of magazines and books available giving good health and nutritional advice.

It is important that whatever eating plan you adopt fits in with your lifestyle.

Exercise

It is a fact, that after just 20 minutes of aerobic exercise your body releases endorphins which are chemicals in the brain that promote a positive mindset.

Sometimes getting additional exercise into your daily routine can be as simple as leaving the car at home, or taking the steps up to your office rather than the lift. Other times you will need a more direct approach particularly if you have particular problem areas you wish to tackle.

Again, there are lots of gyms around that offer help and advice on getting an exercise routine that is right for you, or if you have the cash available, you could employ the services of a personal trainer, either at home, or in a gym.

If all of your spare cash is going on the wedding, then why not take up swimming in your local baths, you can often go early in the morning when it is quieter and it will give you a kick start to the day!

Alternatively, you could take up jogging; why not involve your fiancé who may also be keen to look his best in his best bib and tucker on your big day! After all, research shows that you are more likely to stick to your training routine if you have a training partner, and it would give you time together away from the stresses and strains of planning a wedding!

Choose the style of your dress carefully

Your wedding dress designer should be able to help you chose the right style dress for your shape. There are not many of us that are the perfect shape, never mind the perfect size! Some of us bear the burden of having childbearing hips while sporting little more up top than a couple of mole hills. The point is that there are ways and means of disguising those things you are less happy about, while making the most of your assets!

Get the right lingerie

Now, herein lies some magic. It is well documented that ''magic knickers'' were the best invention since the dishwasher and they have come a long way from the days when they looked liked something your grandma may wear! You can now buy knicks that flatten your tummy, lift your bum and slim your thighs. Maybe you don''t need all three but if you do, they are out there! However, my advice would be to go and buy yourself something a little less like Fort Knox to change into and wow your new husband with on your wedding night!

Getting the right bra is vitally important too. It would be well worth going and having yourself measured professionally if you have not already done so. Of course, choosing the right bra is made a little more difficult because not only do you need one that will give you a lift in all the right places, and point you in the right direction, but you will also need to ensure it doesn''t get seen by anyone other than your intended!

Good Luck!

It is important that you feel your best and look your best on your big day, but more important than that is that you marry the man of your dreams and start a whole new adventure together. So, while you want to look your best, don''t let it completely take over your life to the detriment of your happiness!
