Where do we start - there are just so many wonderful ideas when it comes
to decorating your wedding table. However, there can also be too many
ideas so Mrs2Be is here to help you to decide what is best for you.
The first thing to start with is your wedding colour scheme assuming you have already chosen one. Certain colour schemes lend themselves to certain themes for example pastel colours lend themselves beautifully to country wedding themes or vintage wedding themes. Hot colours such as hot pinks and hot oranges, well now they look fabulous within a Moroccan styled wedding. Pale blues and aquas look wonderful as part of a seaside theme.
The next thing to think about is your centre piece. The obvious would be to have a beautiful flower display as your centre piece. When choosing your centre piece consider how big your tables are and how many people you are seating around them. Then consider your wedding breakfast and how much cutlery and glassware there will be on the tables.
If for example you are having a lot of tableware then you may choose not to have a centre piece that takes up too much room at the base and spreads out too much on the table. Tall centre pieces are good as they enable your guests to actually see each other around the table and have a conversation. There is nothing worse than having a display that cuts people off from each other. So in this respect candelabras are very good as they can be tall, have beautiful tapered candles in them to match your colour scheme and they can also be decorated with flowers, foliage or other decorative items. You don’t need to purchase these either, there are many candelabra hire companies such as Blue Leaf Event Hire who can help you.
The next item to consider as part of your table decoration would be the table linen itself. You do not have to stick to the traditional white or ivory table linen if you don’t want to. Some brides go the whole hog with their table linen and hire coloured table linen or if that is a step too far for you, then consider coloured table runners. You can get these in cotton or organza and really do look beautiful. The same can be said of your table napkins, these are a great way to inject some colour into your table display. Your venue may well only offer the traditional white or ivory table linen but again, you can linen hire is an option and there are a number of linen hire companies available.
Here at Mrs2Be.com we make no secret of the fact that we love the country vintage look that is popular at the moment, and one of the reasons for this is that people are embracing the mix and match crockery look. There is nothing to say you have to use plain white table crockery and if the vintage theme is for you this is a great way to decorate your tables. Mix and matched side plates would look better with plain white or some other pale coloured napkin. Now not many people will have enough mix and match crockery to cater for 100 or more people! But fear not, help is again at hand from companies such as from specialist Hire companies who can provide crockery including items such as cups and saucers, dinner plates, and cake plates. Coloured glassware is a fantastic way to inject some more colour into your table and become part of the decoration.

Your wedding favours are an important part of your table decoration and there are some really very beautiful wedding favours available to choose from such as these pretty favour bags. Whatever colour scheme you have chosen you can bet your bottom dollar there will be a wedding favour out there to match that colour. whether you are opting for a box that you intend to then fill or you want to look for something more specific there is so much to choose from these days. Of course you can then adapt your favours even further by customising them yourself with decorative items such as flowers, jewels and ribbons.
Don’t forget that whilst the chair is not specifically part of the table decoration it adds to it. The ever popular choice of chair covers with sashes is a good option as it enables you to tie your colour scheme together with the bow but don’t think you have to go with one colour throughout the room. Many brides are opting to alternate their colours or have one table of one colour and the next of a second colour. Personally I would not go with more than 2 or 3 colours max. If chair covers are not for you, think about hanging something on your chair such as a beautiful padded heart or perhaps a bunch of small flowers tied together with pretty ribbon. This can also double up as your place names as you can attach a label to it with the name of your guest.
A way to finish off your table is with table confetti. Whether you go for the foil option or real petals it is a subtle way to inject a little more colour into your table. Scatter gems are very popular right now and are available in the coloured option or clear to give some added sparkle to your wedding tables.
