Wedding Colour Schemes

Picking a colour theme for your wedding is not always as easy as it sounds. While most brides will opt for a cream or white wedding dress, coloured wedding dresses are becoming more and more popular and there are so many beautiful colours to chose from. Designers such as Hollywood Dreams have a range of gorgeous red wedding dresses as well as pale pink while Ian Stuart Bridal carries pale blue and pale green frocks within his collections.

You may have an idea in your mind what you would like as an accent colour, maybe "pink" or "green" but that's when the fun starts as there are so many different types of pinks and greens. You may want to go with something stronger, perhaps a burn't orange theme or a chocolate brown.

Introducing Your Colour Theme

You can introduce your colour in many ways; the normal way being via your wedding flowers, wedding favours and your chair and table decorations. Many couples are taking this a stage further and moving away from the plain ivory and white table linen opting instead for solid coloured table linen or combining the neutral table linen colours with coloured runners and napkins. You don't necessarily need to lay every table identically either so you may choose to alternate the tables with neutral and coloured table linen.

Don't Forget the Table Linen & Tableware

Don't forget your tableware can also be a part of your colour theme. Coloured glassware can really set a table off beautifully or why not go for an ecclectic look and have non-matching coloured crockery.

Pink Wedding Theme

This is a big bold beautiful colour with a sense of the exotic and fun. This tends to be the colour of choice for brides who are no shrinking violets as it certainly draws attention. Great for a summer wedding teamed with other hot colours such as orange and purples. However, it is also at home at other times of year and came be teamed with less bold colours such as ivory.

Blue Wedding Colour Scheme

Blue is another very popular choice for a wedding colour scheme. It has the ability of being both traditional and contemporary depending on the shade you choose. Couples who are opting for a coastal wedding theme would do well to use blue though whether you choose to go for a british coastal blue or a more exotic feeling azure blue is entirely your choice!

Purple Wedding Schemes

Purple - a very rich and regal colour is a wonderfully warm colour and is well suited for medieval themed wedding and winter weddings when used plentifully. If you are planning a summer or spring wedding then purple is still a great colour scheme to choose, but perhaps more sparingly and coupled with a much lighter colour such as pistachio.
